The Irish Women’s Writing (1880-1920) Network proudly presents two new Postgraduate Assistant Researchers, Sophie van Os and Geraldine Brassil, who will assist with the expansion of the Network’s current bibliography of primary and secondary sources and regularly update the website.
Geraldine has been accepted to the research masters programme with a departmental assistantship within the Department of English Language and Literature at Mary Immaculate College, Limerick, beginning in September 2019. Her proposed research topic is the recovery of mid-to-late 19th century and early 20th century women’s writing with a special emphasis on publishing contexts.
Sophie has obtained a Master’s degree in European literature, with a specialisation in Irish literature, at the Radboud University in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. She has written her Master thesis on the representation of gender and nationalism in Irish nineteenth-century women’s writing, under the supervision of dr Marguérite Corporaal. She is currently the editorial assistant of the international academic peer-reviewed journal English Studies and research assistent for Marguérite Corporaal’s new NWA project titled “Heritages of Hunger”.
Geraldine and Sophie hope they can contribute to the Network’s great research through their extensive knowledge and passion for women’s writing, and help to further facilitate international and interdisciplinary connections and exchanges between scholars studying the lives and work of Irish women.
